GS1 retail supplier labeling
Challenge
Tesco requires that all suppliers comply to the labelling standards as instructed in the document "Box and Crate end Loose & Pre-packed Guidelines." Suppliers failing to supply barcode labels that meet the compliance mandate can receive fines and possibly return of products to be relabelled.
Solution
NiceLabel's partner configured a purpose-built application using the latest touch screen technology and PowerForms Desktop to deliver fast and efficient one “touch” processing of labels, supporting thermal printers box, crate and pallet labels. Images and icons replace text and touch screen replaces keyboard and mouse.
Benefits
- Simple user interface reduces training and support.
- Faster time to print with single touch processes.
- Improved label accuracy and removal of compliance fines.
- Removing the keyboard and mouse reduces downtime.
Niftylift - Warehouse labeling
Challenge
Niftylift is one of the largest manufacturers of cherry picker, boom lift, access platform, lift platform, aerial platform and work platforms. Niftylift were producing storage bin product location labels using MS Word which was heavy of manual user input, and laser printers in the main office, resulting in slow production of low quality, high cost labels.
Solution
NiceLabel's partner designed a new labeling solution based on PowerForms Desktop to deliver fast and efficient label printing. The new solution sources data from the host database which minimizes manual data-entry, resulting in fewer errors. The solution also takes advantage of thermal label printers resulting in faster and more efficient labeling process.
Benefits
- Less human input and fewer errors.
- Simple user interface limiting training and support requirements.
- Faster time to print and process optimization.
- Reduced media costs and less downtime.
Animal blood labeling
Challenge
TCS biosciences supplies a large range of products to the pharmaceutical sector. TCS are required to label all specimens, containers and bags. This process involved using time consuming software with an over complex user interface, printing to costly pre-printed labels.
Solution
NiceLabel's partner designed a new printing application using the latest touch screen technology and PowerForms Desktop to deliver fast and efficient one “touch” label printing. The solutions supports two colour thermal printers to print on plain white labels, resulting in faster times to print, reduction in training and IT support.
Benefits
- Less human input and less errors
- Simple user interface limiting training and support.
- Faster time to print with single touch process.
- Reduced costs and downtime.
PowerForms Desktop allowed us to configure the screen and buttons anyway we needed. This way we were able to build an interface to be used on a touch screen delivering the inherent advantage of flexibility as far as user interaction is concerned. The screen is divided into “data entry” and “data viewing/choice” according to requirements. Since there is no fixed or reserved space for a keyboard, literally any kind of combination is possible.

Gate Gourmet – Airline Catering
Challenge
Gate Gourmet is the world’s largest independent provider of catering services for airlines. They provide special meals (e.g. vegetarian) that need to be clearly marked. Gate Gourmet previously used pre-printed stickers where the chef marked the appropriate check box for easy identification. Gate Gourmet asked NiceLabel's partner for a “one click labeling solution”. The solution should allow quick printing for users with limited computer skills.
Solution
The partner initially approached the challenge by programming in Access but abandoned the concept, having realized they could build a better solution, with less effort and no programming using PowerForms Desktop.
Benefits
- Higher productivity.
- Staff training minimized.
- Downtime minimized.
- Fast and inexpensive development.
