SAP Nicelabel Label Printing Solution

NiceWatch Enteprise Reference Case

Etol is an increasingly globally renowned developer of flavourings and a supplier of raw materials for food products and beverages. Its 2007 revenue totalled just over EUR 36 million, and it's revenue per employee exceeded EUR 130.000. The company is a highly technologically advanced producer of foodstuffs and foodstuff components, and it's production is governed by some of the strictest national and international regulations to guarantee product safety and traceability.

Etol has driven its sales and growth not only through a very keen contact with the markets they operate on, but with process optimization and integration as well. In 2006, it has implemented SAP enterprise-wide to streamline its business operations.

While SAP didn't cause any additional problems with their labeling infrastructure, it didn't provide an internal solution to the issues they faced. Their labeling system featured:

  • A large number of labels being printed in a fully automated production line
  • Labels in a plethora of languages for all their target markets
  • Labels that require strict adherence to international food and chemical industry regulation
  • Labels for food products were applied to identical containers, and an error in labeling can not be verified by opening the container due to contamination restrictions

This has prompted Etol to consider a structured labeling solution, which would allow them to abandon direct printer-language programming, to completely automate label printing along side their production line, as well as offer them a flexible solution which they could independently manage and adjust with little to no additional training.

Etol has evolved into one of NiceLabel's closest strategic partners in the development and field testing of enterprise-level solutions.

The solution they applied to their systems does away with the traditional barriers between SAP and thermal label printers, offering them reliable automated performance around the clock, and a level of rugged stability so trustworthy, that they often apply labeling changes without prior trials on a test environment.

"The implementation of SAP introduced the dilemma of how to achieve a complete label printing solution. In light of our previous experiences with NiceLabel, we decided not to follow SAP recommendations, and instead chose the NiceWatch Server platform, which we haven't regretted.

The simplicity of design, maintenance, SAP connectivity, and Unicode support are just a few of the advantages which would make me recommend this solution to anyone faced with similar issues."
